For her third exhibition at the gallery, Judit Ström pursues her exploration of an intimate universe whose mythology is linked to personal experiences where childhood plays a dominating role. Looking at the evolution of her work in the past five years, new elements appear, such as the use of dots and motifs as ornaments. Stencils transferred on different planes create perspectives and a multi-layered, complex space.
There is constantly a balance between imaginary and real words in the works of Ström. Outer and inner levels of reality are united in her use of nature as a way to depict human feelings. Happiness, absence, desire and loss of meaning are dimensions integrated in her works : A picture of a beautiful but destructive world, where the complexity of dreams becomes an important bearer of meaning.
« My pictures are always about the mind. They are like a dream awake. There is an imbalance in things and people, which is always on the edge of free fall. Falling, daydreaming, loneliness, motives, guilt, happiness and intoxication are all feelings to be experienced. »
