Bahar Badiei & Niloufar Shiri
Kamancheh player Niloufar Shiri and oudist Bahar Badiei come together for a program exploring the classical music of Iran. The program is based on the multimodal cycle system of Dastgah music and features works by composers from the 19th century to today, alongside improvisation and the singing of poetry.
Bahar Badiei is a New York-based oudist, composer, and educator from Tehran, Iran. Her work spans jazz, classical music of Iran, contemporary concert music, and free improvisation. Drawing from these musical expressions, she has developed a distinctive voice in both composition and improvisation.
All About Jazz has described her as “a master improviser,” describing her playing as “free of tonal constraint.”
