Special Event: Saturday, September 26th at 7:00 PM - Suzanne Benton, MASK AND RITUAL TALES (20 minute performance) + Q&A

From humanity’s oldest legends to stories of the present, we find tales of women as they have moved through their lives and ours. The evening will be filled with stories drawn from myth, history, sacred text, and folklore. Woven together through mask, sound, and narrative, these stories bring to life women’s journeys across time and place, from all corners of the earth, becoming part of our mythic and artistic inheritance. Suszanne Benton, a visual and performing artist, uses her welded metal masks to explore myths, legends, and life stories. She had gathered tales from travels throughout the world, presented performances and lectures, and led workshops in the United States and abroad. A former Fulbright Scholar (India), and Resident Artist at Harvard University, Benton has exhibited her work at numerous venues, including the Museum of the Performing Arts in New York City, Chemould Gallery in Mumbai, and the Hellenic American Union in Athens. She has performed for theater, museum, and university audiences worldwide, is the author of The Art of Welded Sculpture, and is currently completing her memoir, The Spirit of Hope.
