Yves Seban
In the late 1990s, the Paula Cooper Gallery, then in Soho, offered its space to the public to read the full texts of James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake, and, on an alternate year, Gertrude Stein’s The Making of Americans.
Yves Seban attended the readings and developed presentations of excerpts for both texts, at various venues: Festival des Allumés in Nantes, Anthology Film Archives in NYC, The Joyce Parlor in Chiba, Japan, Musée des Arts d’ Afrique et d’Océanie in Paris, Galerie du Jour - agnès b. in Paris.
Seban recently presented a reading of Joyce’s Finnegans Wake excerpts, in the original text and Italian translation, by the late poet/translator Luigi Schenoni at Bookhouse-Centro Primo Levi, NYC.
Yves Seban’s background started in the mid-80s Paris fashion world, working for French luxury brands, notably for French fashion icon agnès b.
Yves then turned to translation of art texts, film scripts, conference interpretation, while transcribing/translating, in-studio, the Louise Bourgeois’ personal diaries. Yves is currently re-writing a screen adaptation of Jun’ichiro Tanizaki’s Some Prefer Nettles.
